Maria has tacit knowledge of human biology and physiology from her time at the University of Toronto coupled with her extensive training and mentorship from John F. Barnes, and his Myofascial Release (MFR) approach to therapy. In 2018, Maria launched a successful home based practice centered on the sentiments of her patrons. Clients who value customized, attentive and detailed oriented treatment sessions based on their unique needs and health goals. Maria connects with people in a manner that empowers them towards the road of recovery and embracing life to its fullest, making her the therapist of choice for many allied health professionals. The goal of her clinical practice is to offer quality health care through evidence based best practices. She has been serving residents of the Durham region, and surrounding areas since 2007.
Maria completed her Physiotherapist Assistant training and entered the rehabilitative field in 2006. She began providing hands-on MFR therapy in 2007 as per Ontario Physiotherapy Association guidelines. Trained in John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Seminars since April of 2008 and achieved Expert Level Status October 2011. Maria has been a Registered Massage Therapist in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario since July 2014, offering her expertise and dedication to promoting wellness. Experienced with diverse populations including athletes aspiring to achieve competitive goals in sports and dance, post surgical rehabilitation, daily living imbalances, pre-habilitative goals, and trauma support to name a few. Maria Chan Wai S. has an entrepreneurial mindset. Her greatest asset is creative flexibility in problem solving. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. As a constant learner, Maria decided to resume her University studies in 2021 at Trent University. Her career highlights include experience in sales strategies to drive consistent sales success, and 20+ years' experience in various industries driving constant revenue growth. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, dancing (Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba), working out, and the outdoors. |
